History

In the summer of 1998, in front of a deep-blue sea, I decide that it is high time my country got to know national children’s basketball. The idea of organizing a new happening without flooding the already very busy spring and summer calendar has now taken shape, and therefore I choose the winter holidays. The Christmas presents and the New Year’s celebrations are left to everybody’s leisure and consequently I pick the period from New Year’s Day to Epiphany.
Said and done: the first edition in 1999 registers 12 teams: Pall. Limena, Basketlandia Padova, Canossa Conselve, Cmb Campo San Martino, Basketmania Vicenza, Juve Pontedera, Don Bosco Livorno, Mens Sana Siena, Vigna Pia Roma, Minibasketball Roseto degli Abruzzi, San Raffaele Roma and Dusan Hauptman Basketschool Lubiana, the only foreign team. This edition was attended also by Daniele Bonessio and Gianni Cantagalli. Once in A2 division and at the end of their junior sport activity they were able to play an extraordinary End Game, which they won during the first extra time. Monica Tonello’s, the Fanton twins’, Facchin’s, Pasquetto’s, Tiralongo’s and company’s Pall. Limena ranked fourth behind Minibasketball Roseto degli Abruzzi.
Since that edition the championship has been growing year after year and it is now among the most important happenings of children’s basketball. I wish to share the credit of this success with everbody who has somehow contributed to its organisation.
Our championship is now turning into a more and more dynamic and young happening. Andrea and Fabio’s passionate and capable job will improve the happening to a joyful event in the real spirit of children’s basketball
